Lycos has created a new search function, for searching forums, bulletin boards and groups. Useful if you want to see what people are talking about with regards a particular subject. Doesn't appear to cover USENET, and they're not saying how they have got the discussions they have, but interesting even so.

And yet a third content management utility, which is again a commercial product, costing $39.90 for a single license. It's called ContentSaver but I'll stick with FURL I suspect.

SurfSaver is another product that allows you to save web pages into searchable folders, though this one stores the data on your own computer. It's another commercial product.

Onfolio is a content management utility that allows you to save web pages that you find on the net, so it's rather like FURL. Commercial product.

This is a magnificent tool - it's a collection of different utilities that tell you more than you would ever think possible about a web page. It's called URLinfo from Fagan Finder and has shot to the top of my 'must use' list.

A new meta search clustering search engine, called Accumo - Enterprise Text Clustering and Categorization Metasearch engine. I've tried it, but wasn't impressed myself - it took 3 attempts before it ran a search for me, and then when I tried it a fourth time it said the service was temporarily unavailable. Try it yourself though, and see what you think.

There won't be many updates for the next couple of weeks, since I'm on holiday. However, if I do see anything particularly important, I'll try and mention it. See you when I'm back!

This is a quite disgraceful situation. Penguin has published a book called katie.com which is about the abuse a teenager suffered as a result of meeting people from chat rooms. The only problem is, that the domain name is actually owned by Katie Jones and Penguin didn't check, or they didn't care. They are now apparently sending lawyers after this woman to bully her into giving them her domain name! You can read more about it by following the link.

This is the same principle as the Googlerankings site.. it checks your webpage against search terms you choose and tells you what rank you're at. Try it out at: YahooSearchRankings.com.
