Media backlash against Google. The Salt Lake Tribune has an interesting article, which is basically a backlash against Google. This is something that I've mentioned before, and I'm not surprised to see it happening now. I fully expect that over the coming weeks and months we'll see a lot more articles like this criticising Google, rightly or wrongly.

Librarians shed clothes and image. The mind boggles. Sounds a fun idea though... do we have any volunteers in the UK for a similar calender? And before you ask, no, I'm not volunteering myself.

Search engine freshness update from Greg Notess. Major findings come as no real surprise - most indexes are about a month old, and some pages have been added in the last few days.

Is Northern Light going to make a comeback? After the Divine fiasco, it looked as though NL was dead in the water.... a sad and distant dream for those of us who liked the elegance and ease of use of the search engine. However, all may not be lost, as the press release implies that NL may well return in some format in the not too distant future. Worth keeping an eye on.

A method of creating a Google like page ranking service, but five times faster is being developed. This means that it should be possible to create ranking that is appropriate for single individuals, based on their own preferences. This is going to knock the SEO boys on the head slightly!

'Librarian' centers on a cache of mythical objects secreted beneath the New York Public Library, including the Golden Fleece and the Ark of the Covenant. The title character must guard them against the forces of evil. Well I guess someone has to look after everything that Indiana Jones brings back from his travels!

Google is big. It's really big. Not just in the size of its index, but the surrounding hype, the fan sites, the information sites, the add-ons and so on. In fact, it's got so big, there's now Google'World, which is an index/directory based site to draw everything together. If you want to really understand Google, this is the place to start.
